Keen Wai's Bday@Delicious

The Birthday boy and his cake!
ZEN Chocolate Cake ~yummy~

Gotcha gossipping & stealing those chocolate chips!

The mirror came in handy!

Reminiscing our pillow talk sessions

You see us fighting in the pic?
Yup that is what we do best! =))

Us posing in front of the Harry Potter-ish castle

We were not warned!! It was J(Jusco) card member day. Jam jam jam! The amount of ppl in midvalley was insane, especially Jusco. It seemed like there were free gold up for grasp but no! It was just their annual J card member sale! Ppl were just grabbing stuffs like they were free. Unfortunately, we were one of them :( Oh but the difference was, we didn't grab stuffs. We browsed through item by item carefully without making any indulging purchase =)) Well actually, we helped Kar Wei search high and low for Christmas pressies for her 3 little cousins. So in the end, thanx to Sarcastic Sam/Sexy Sam/Silly Sam, she bought 3 build-it-yourself dinosaur kits.

Oh and and I almost forgotten about this one. As we were walking to Delicious, we witnessed a married couple arguing. The man got angrier by the second(no idea why was he so angry) and finally he pushed the pram, with his son in it, with full force, towards his wife! OMG everyone around them was stunned! Trying not to be busybodies or to be more precised, trying not to get ourselves into trouble, we hurriedly walked away. Later on when Kah Tuck and I went to get Keen Wai's bday cake, we saw the same man again! He was sitting down with his son but this time without his wife around. He looked like he was sulking! Try to picture a grown-up man with a big belly sulking, playing around with a balloon stick. But I guess we are really fated as we bumped into him again, at Vincci. Well the difference was, he was with his wife this time. He looked OK. Well he had to be Ok in order to accompany his wife to do some shoe shopping. Oh well at least a happy ending =)) I hope!

Movie was in between all those dramas we had at midvalley. From having lunch at Delicious to shoe shopping to movie to more shopping to time-out break. We were left with no choice. Princess and the Frog was our only option and thank goodness it was fantastic! Disney never failed to amaze me once again. It was a classic princess story you would expect it to be but it still had its originality. There's always a but in everything(I wonder why). I fell asleep again during a movie and it's always during the climax(fighting scenes). Damn it :(

Despite the chaotic situation we faced, battling through the crowd to go from one end to another, it was indeed a great reunion for the CIG. Well just in case you were wondering, it stands for Crab Island Gang. Sounds cool eh? Heehee

Those were the days

Going Up North

Finally! I've finished uploading all the photos. Phew! So tiring! Ok I don't know why I can't type above this picture but never mind, I shall just start off here :)) We (Sam, Jie Qi, Kar Wei, Julian, Candice and I) went in 2 separate cars, for a 4 days 3 nights stay in Penang. As you can see, Sam the driver is not paying attention but instead busy taking photographs! All the budget hotels in Penang were fully booked and so we were left with just a few choices. So, we chose to stay at Krystal Suites. Let me warn you first, it is no 5 star hotel or anywhere near that. But for 200 ringgit per night, it is worth it!! We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with a living and dining area. It was a good choice as if we were to coupe up in just one room, we would go nuts! The living room was cosy enough for us to have our mandatory pillow talks at night =))

Outside Gurney Plaza
We successfully made our way to Gurney Drive with the help of Sam's GPS (We call it Fabio). Shared laksa, yam cake, rojak, grilled stuff, fried oyster, satay, apom, char kuey teow AND siput duri ~yums~
Later that night, we watched Couples Retreat. OMG if you wanna laugh your lungs out please watch this movie!!
Jie Xun was supposed to join us for supper but he went to the wrong hotel as nobody informed him about the changed of plan and his tyre went flat too (Sorry!)
And so supper was a cup of maggie mee. But we were still so hungry so we decided to call for McD delivery. Sadly, they do no deliver at 2am over there :(( Desperate us went around Bayan Lepas searching for mamaks and thank goodness we found one!

At the newly build Kuan Yin statue

The dragon and horse-y babies

We ordered McD breakfast first thing in the morning, delivered right up to our doorstep! Room service! Haha Jie Xun became our tour guide for the day. First up on the itinerary was Kek Lok Si Temple. It was kinda rushy so we didn't explore much.

Then, we went up to Penang Hill. Oh boy was it stuffy in the cable car. It took us 30 mins to reach the top of the hill. Snap snap snap and down we went. Didn't see much either. We met up with Syndee, who is also a Penangite and she joined us for the rest of the trip =))

Drove to Batu Feringgi and the plan was to play by the beach but somehow the mood wasn't there. Maybe because everything seems to be in a rush. So instead, we went on a boat ride! Without any life jackets -_- Bad boat uncle!
Next, we went for dinner at a seafood restaurant Jie Xun recommended.

and look what the guys found! Fish! In the guy's pee-ing drain or whatever u call that.Hehehe

Day 3: We went to butterfly farm. My favourite =)) 10 ringgit per entry for MyKad holders.

Kar Wei and her butterfly

There were many other insects besides butterflies :))
The mandarin ducks, crab-looking fella, sam-looking iguana, uv scorpion, camouflaged mantis, baby dinosaur and lady bugs =))

Pregnant Sam modelling with my handbag. Jie Xun trying to be a lady.
And we tried to be pretty butterflies =))

Welcome to Spice Garden peeps!
I didn't even know this place exists in Penang
No proper parking lots, rather pricey entrance fee and lots of greens!
(14 ringgit for adults, 10 ringgit for students but it's not stated on the board, we just tried our luck. Guided tours are available but of course you'd need to pay more. ) And beware of mosquitoes! They bite.

A lil bit of jungle trekking. Well, can't really call that trekking but yea.
Can't see no spice, just the trees =))
That's Sam with his signature snake style.

The 2 posers!

And so that's all for Spice Garden. We then headed back to the hotel to wash up before going to Queensbay Mall!! I planned to spend some quality time shopping there but in the end it didn't work out. I was just too tired!! Had dinner at Azuma, sounds Japanese, well it is Japanese. Heehee. Food was not bad but we must go to Rakuzen next time! I insist =)) Since Storm Warriors was scheduled to be out on the 10th, we went to watch at 12.30am! Since we had 2 hours before the movie, we went back to the hotel to rest. Instead of taking a nap, we played "donkey" and "bluff". For "donkey", the loser had to perform a dare. For my case, I had to open the window, stick my head out and shout "I love America!". And omg just as I expected, there was a guy one floor below ours smoking his cigratte and was looking at me embarrassing myself.

Then it was movie time! Sadly, it is officially in my list of Top 10 worst movies ever. I had no idea what the story was about. Ok partly because I was asleep most of the time, but even when I was awake I didn't even know what was going on. Just DO NOT WATCH. It's for your own sake. Went back to the hotel with disappointment but we still had our pillow talk =))

Kar Wei and I at Kek Lok Si on the last day.
Had our brunch at the Sisters' Char Kuey Teow ( Not the real name ). Zoomed to Kek Lok Si for the 2nd time to buy souvenirs. This time we didn't drive up to the top, instead we walked up till the turtle pond, took some photographs and went back down.

Another reason for going all the way there was this. The one I packet didn't make it home. It went into Sam's stomach instead :(

And as for the other yummy-licious stuffs I bought, it's all digested by now :)) What about yours?

Happy "Frog" Day

Ok this is a very belated bday post but I still wanted to post this up. Cindy was the mastermind behind this birthday surprise; she contacted us secretly without Kah Tuck's knowledge.

The plan: Cindy would bring Kah Tuck to Chilis for lunch and then she'll use the toilet excuse to meet us at MPH. Before that Sam and I would go buy the movie tickets for Ninja Assassin which KT wanted to watch (according to Cindy). Then Cindy would go back to meet KT and we would be following her from behind. The funny thing was KT didn't even realised that we were standing right next to his table for quite some time as he was busy reading the menu!! Haha and then we shouted surprise!!!
AND he teared. AWWWWW well ALMOST teared to be exact.

This really reminded me a lot about all our previous birthday surprises which was individually unique and original. And come to think of it, The Frog never had a birthday surprise during college days as it was always near our exams. So, this would definitely be a memorable one for him =)) And I'm very sure it made his day, grinning from ear to ear the whole time.

Tenji

Finally I went to Tenji after so long! First things first, in case you didn't know, Tenji is a Japanese buffet restaurant. Not really Japanese as there are Chinese and Western food too. Something like Jogoya if you are wondering. They have various promotions going on so go ahead and check out their website www.tenji.com.my

This is for Kar Wei: We ( My mum and I ) sat at the same exact table as WE did the last time!! ) It was purely a coincidence. Cool eh? Hehe and somehow they had more food compared to the last time we went. Hmm I wonder why...

The drinks section
They have LOTS of drinks. From tea to coffee to juice to carbonated drinks.
Top left: Tea jars , Top right: Coffee maker, carbonated drinks
Bottom: Juices and dessert (The chocolate fountain is no longer there)
Top left: Coconut. Don't worry, it is not as pathetic as it looks in the pic. There was only 1 left when I took this pic.
Top right: Some icy dessert by Baskin Robbins. I didn't try this one.
Bottom: Kindori. It is a Japanese ice cream where they mix fruits with ice cream and blend them together in that machine.
They had a few other stalls outside which includes the BBQ crab, dim sum, ramen, more BBQ food. I think the crabs stole the spotlight :)) It definitely got my attention. Oh and I thought I ate a lot when I noticed the guy sitting behind me ate even more! Since we arrived till they left, he has been eating crab non-stop!! The whole crab times 7-8 maybe?? Or even more!! Haha I called him my Champion. Wanted to take a pic with him but he looked fierce and might even scold me for disturbing him savouring his 10th crab!! Haha
Top: The teppanyaki section where you place numbered clips into the bowls for the food of your choice and they will send them to your table when it's ready.
Middle: Steam section where you are required to place the clips into the bowl too. Portion is relatively small so I would advice you to place more than 1 clip to avoid the trouble of going back there again.
Bottom: Chinese food section where they have the clams, crab, rice, prawns, etc. I guess they change the menu every now and then as it is a bit different compared to the last time I went there with Kar Wei.
They had shabu-shabu too but I forgotten to post up the pics.
Left (Top): Sashimi. Not as fresh as I expected it would be. It was almost the end of lunch hour when I took these pics so the trays are almost empty. No pics of the classic oyster. All gone! LOL
Left (Bottom): Sushi. This I must must must comment. NOT NICE!! Super hard and no taste!! I think they didn't add vinegar to the rice. And the rice taste weird. Doesn't taste like the normal Jap rice.
Right: Giant sample of sushi rolls. But I didn't order them, as I'd sort of expect the rice to be super hard as well.
Overall: Very disappointing!! The best place for Jap food is still Eyuzu at Eastin Hotel or Genji at PJ Hilton!! Super fresh sashimi and authentic Jap food. But the truly truly authentic Jap food can be found somewhere in Subang. Forgotten the name and place but I will surely blog about it the next time I go there. Its chef is a Japanese man and they serve normal Jap food, like what they would usually eat at home and not sushi and sashimi.
Places like Jogoya, Shogun, Tenji has lots of variety and they are so-called Japanese restaurants but the food doesn't taste Japanese at all.
Ok back to Tenji. I'll try not to divert too much. Heehee
Top: Cookies! Yummy! I would say that Tenji has the most choices of drinks and deserts!
Bottom left: Cakes. Ok it looks empty because like I've mentioned earlier on that I took these pics at the end of lunch hour.
Bottom right: More cakes
I actually took more pics than these but somehow I forgotten to post them as well. Nevermind. Oh and how can I forget this. The Baskin Robbins counter took the spotlight now instead of Haegen Daaz. HD got kicked to a corner outside and it seemed abandoned.

Ok sooooo now, would I go back Tenji?? I would in the future when there's another promotion but not in the near future =))

Take note: Their promotion ends on the 30th of Nov 2009. So hurry up!

Yummylicious

Looks good? It is what we call claypot chicken rice. But this one is a bit special, so it also has a longer name; Kampar Claypot Chicken Rice(Charcoaled). I guess they are trying to tell the customers that it is cooked with charcoal and not gas. The restaurant is called Choong Kee which is situated near Atria Shopping Complex, next to Dominos Pizza. Sometimes you are expected to wait up to an hour before food is served! This is how popular this pot of rice is. It is 7 Ringgit for 1 pot or you can order the big one for 2 which is 13 Ringgit.

Even if the sky is falling down

...you'll be my only, no need to worry

Oh gawd I can't help it but I am addicted to Jay Sean's Down featuring Lil Wayne. Ok the lyrics are not superb, it is simple and not much meaning to it but I just have this pull towards it. It makes me feel happy :)) I've been listening to it a gazillion times. I might even consider setting it as my ringtone. But most prob I wont because my phone is 24 hours on silent mode. Haha

On another note, Nikki's fur got stuck to the fan and some of it came off. She panicked. I hugged her and said "I love you baby, don't worry" She gave the fan a tiny nudge and went away. Haha

Living a humanly life once again

I suddenly had this urge to blog. Maybe because I abandoned my blog for SO long. Ok so here are the updates peeps! The following however took place over a few days and at different places.
Watched 2012 with Deary at Tropicana City mall. Well if you have read my previous posts, you would know that I have rant countless times about how I dislike going to this mall. EXCEPT for movies. They have the best seats ever! Clean, comfy, stinky smell-free, spacious (Good for ppl with long legs) and air-condition at an appropriate temperature. Unlike some where it makes you feel as if you are in a freezer instead of a cinema. And why did I mentioned stinky smell-free? It's because of my experience at Midvalley. There's this particular cinema, or maybe multiple, that has a horrible smell! It smells like puke! How can anyone tolerate such thing?? Having to bear with the smell throughout the entire movie. I'm so not letting myself go through such thing again.
Warning: Spoiler ahead!!( Don't read this section if you have not watched the movie)
Ok back to the movie. Don't watch if you don't feel like going into a depress mood. I don't know about the rest but I felt depressed after watching it; having to watch the entire world destroyed by Mother Nature and there's nothing anyone could do about it. Except having to run away. But to where?? Outer space?? Nope!! Only the VVVVVIPs or those who pays 1 billion euros could board the special ark that could protect them from the tsunami caused by the massive shifting of the earth's plates due to the Sun's eruption. This movie also revolves around a family and how they escape the inescapable disaster. So, how did this ordinary family who ain't special nor rich board the ark? Go watch the movie and find out more!! Besides the depressing part where EVERYTHING gets destroyed, the movie also incorporated some values; a parent's love for their children is undeniable and some parts on humanity. Well it did affect me a bit on how I think, so go watch and get affected! For the better of course :))

Up: Mummy's grilled chicken with grilled vegetables and rice

Bottom: My grilled chicken with potato salad and fresco salad

Ok this is random but I loveee Nandos so I HAD to upload the pics here. Ok actually it is not random after all since I just had this for dinner. My current favourite side lines from Nandos are the potato salad and grilled vegetables. Somehow I never liked their Peri Chips although I'm a potato freak. The Fresco salad would have been nicer if they have added some vinegar or olive oil.

Went to Pavillion today. I just love that mall. It is so shopper-friendly except for the soon-to-be outcome like KLCC - overcrowded with non-genuine shoppers, but just lepakers. We (Mummy and I) had Subway for lunch. It's actually quite worth it when there's promotion, rather than eating McD which is overpriced and not worth the money for the kind of food quality and moreover it is not that healthy. To avoid the crowd, go in the morning so you could enjoy shopping and not bulldozing your way through the crowd. Parking in Pavillion is rather expensive so what we did was, we parked at Starhill and pay a nett price of 5 ringgit. Take note, this is only applicable to weekends and after 6pm. Parking rates are at hourly basis on weekdays.

Next movie on my list: A Christmas Carol

Alright that's all folks! =))

I don't want to be reminded of it. It's haunting my mind and I can't get rid of it. I'm trying my best not to think about it. But the truth is I can't run away from it. I've had enough of crying and not being able to sleep, waking up every morning with that being the first thing popping into my head. I just hope that it won't happen to me. I can't handle such an impact. It's just too much for me already.

Rainbow In the Night

It feels like Heaven on Earth
Wisconsin

They call it "The Northern Light". Auroras occur when charged particles from the Sun strike atoms in the Earth's atmosphere. The intensity of Auroral displays on Earth are directly tied to the Sun's activity, which follows an 11 year high-low cycle. Solar activity should increase in 2010, with a peak expected to occur in 2012.Green is the most common color for the auroras. During periods of intense solar flares, the auroras display shades of red, yellow or purple. Auroras that occur in the northern hemisphere are called Aurora Borealis, while those over the south pole are called Aurora Australis.

Siew Yee's Bday@Delicious

We celebrated Siew Yee's Bday at Delicious, Bangsar Village. That place was full-house when we arrived as it was lunch time on a Friday. It's not that ppl don't have to work on Fridays but somehow it is an excuse to escape the norm and go out for long lunches. There were 6 of us and as usual there was a frog among the roses; Kah Tuck, Siew Yee the Birthday girl, Carmen, Li Zhen, Li Hoong and I.

We ordered those of the above, macaroni cheese and wedges.

Siew Yee, Carmen and I

"I wish for little giraffes in the future"
I bet that's Siew Yee's wish!! LOL

How can I not comment on the cake? They microwaved the cake to melt the chocolate and gave a scope of ice-cream each. It looks like a brownie but it doesn't taste like one at all. Because it's a chocolate cake and not a brownie.

Speedy yet Breezy

Lunch @SushiZanmai
It was a good way to escape from my usual routine
For once I had my mind off the usual things I had to do
Needed a break just like this
And it came at a perfect time
With great food and company :))
